Ben Sands is a Singer-Songwriter and Composer born and raised in County Down, Ireland, where he still lives … when he not travelling far and wide with his Music, Wit and Wisdom.

He has been doing this for quite a long time, now.

Since the early 1970s he has toured and recorded with his siblings Anne, Tommy and Colum, The Sands Family, but in recent years more often as a solo performer. 

Ben’s own songs and tunes feature more and more on his solo recordings and recent albums are exclusively self-compositions.

Ben Sands is one of the best lyric writers (poets) of the modern folk genre. His works are rooted in the ordinary and in the shared experiences of most of us – but his gift with words can elevate his stories to minor epics.
